If customers who order goods on the Internet receive transparent information about the environmental and social impact of their delivery, they are more likely to choose a more sustainable option. This is a key result of Bianca Ignat's bachelor thesis, for which the graduate of Jacobs University recently received an award from the German Logistics Association (BVL).

"Do e-commerce customers take sustainability into account when choosing a last mile delivery? A survey-based analysis" is the full title of the work of the 22-year-old, who successfully completed her study programme "Industrial Engineering and Management" at the English-speaking university in the summer. She developed a survey and conducted numerous surveys. Her bachelor thesis was supervised by Dr. Stanislav Chankov, who is responsible for the program.

The BVL has been offering this award for outstanding bachelor's and master's theses since 2010. She presented her work at the 35th German Logistics Congress in Berlin. Today Bianca Ignat works at Wayfair in Berlin, an e-commerce mail order company, as a Reverse Logistics Associate.
