I am a scientific fellow at Jacobs University (with Prof. Dr. Arvid Kappas), and a senior researcher and science manager at the interdisciplinary high-profile area "Minds, Media, Machines" at the University of Bremen. I was awarded his PhD degree on the role of social context for facial expressions at Jacobs University Bremen, Germany 2008. My research interests focus on multimodal sensing of emotional states, social signaling, attention, and engagement in interaction with cognitive systems and social robots. I study emotions, empathy, and attention from a multi-level appraisal perspective based on biological, subjective, and behavioral measures. in our collaborative research project PALMS, Prof. Dr. Ben Godde (JAcobs University), Dr. Felix Putze (University of Bremen) and I use an Augmented Reality (AR) approach to disambiguate the contributions of visual and sensoimotor feedback on plasticity in virtual tool use and remote operation of a mobile robot platform.
